PPG Columbus Goodguys Nats 2017

20th Annual...

  • Last year’s 2017 Goodguys PPG Nationals marked their 20th year for this event. The show starts off with Thursday evening’s kick-off party at the Crown Plaza Hotel, where they pack the parking lot with hundreds of hot rods. They have food and drinks on site all three nights not to mention music entertainment in the evening. On Friday morning all the action begins at the spacious 360 acre Ohio Expo Center, where there’s plenty of room for 6,500 plus hot rods, customs, Muscle Cars and Trucks. Let’s throw in the fact that there’s plenty of cruising going on in those three fun filled days. If your legs start to get tired, you can go over to the AutoCross area and sit down on the bleachers to watch some pretty exciting action going on. There’s the Donahey Ag/Hort Building for the women called the “goodgals” arts and craft gallery, not to mention the swap meet and cars for sale area outside. You can get cooled off in the Bricker building; this is where the inside vendors are along with all the new products is displayed. On Saturday afternoon you can head on over to the huge Celeste Center where they display the five finalists for Street Rod of the Year, and Street Machine of the Year. The winners for both Street Rod and Street Machine of the Year are announced on Saturday evening. This year’s winners were, Street Rod of the Year – George Poteet, 1932 Ford Sedan called GPT’32, built by Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop and Street Machine of the year – John & Nicki Wilkus, 1969 Camaro called Inferno, built by The Roadster Shop. This year’s pick for our LIA Award went to a very deserving lady by the name of Randy LaFrance from Centerville, Ohio in her 1930 Ford 5 Window Coupe called Sheneeda. If you’ve never been to this show, this in one you need to put on your bucket list.
